Ron Lawrence
Violist Ron Lawrence has performed and recorded with new music’s most exiting personalities from John Adams to John Zorn. He has recorded with Kathleen Battle, Robert Craft, John Cage and Andre Previn. Ron is a founding member of the Sirius Quartet and an original member of Cuartetango string quartet with which he has performed and recorded with tango’s main figures, including the tango productions of Leonardo Suarez Paz, Tanguera, under the direction of Lisandro Adrover, Savion Glover & Leonardo Suarez Paz: Tap ’N Tango and many others, earning a Latin Grammy Award nomination for the album, “Masters of Bandoneon,” with Cuartetango string quartet. A veteran of crossover string quartets and chamber groups, he has played with Orchestra of St. Lukes, Sirius String Quartet, the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment and Dave Soldier Electric String Quartet, Quartet Indigo appearing at the Koln Musik Triennale, Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, the Moers Festival and other venues. Ron has collaborated with Anthony Braxton, John Blake, Bob Beldon, Anthony Davis, Regina Carter, Elliot Sharp, James Blood Ulmer, Cassandra Wilson, John Cale and Eumir Deodato.
