L'ATELIER

L'ATELIER, Leonardo Suarez Paz's Cuartetango String Quartet

 (EMI Classics 2005)
Picture

Cuartetango’s first album L’Atelier, released on EMI Classics, “conveys all the tango rage and the aggressive nuances of tango” (TangoData B.A.), creating a new form of showcasing this genre with a string quartet instrumentation. Among the tango stars and legends playing their works with Cuartetango string quartet are the Grammy-winning bandoneonist and composer Nestor Marconi, Grammy-winning violinist, Fernando Suarez Paz, and Grammy-winning pianist and composer Osvaldo Berlingieri.

These tango masters have created styles, authored hundreds of compositions and performed as soloists with orchestras and symphonies worldwide. This recording, which combines Cuartetango string quartet with the masters, showcases the quartet’s ability to speak the language of tango and demonstrates how this genre continues to evolve.
