Carolina Cabrera Volpe
Carolina Cabrera Volpe joins Nuevo Tango Ballet as part of the multidisciplinary production EL Nuevo Tango. Carolina began her classical dance training at the age of 8 at the prestigious SODRE in her native country of Uruguay. Upon moving to New York City, Carolina continued her dance training on scholarship at the Joffrey Ballet School and Ballet Hispanico. She went on to earn a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance from the Alvin Ailey/ Fordham University BFA program where she trained in a variety of styles including Ballet, Contemporary, Horton, Graham, West African, Theater Jazz, & Improvisation. During her college years, Carolina performed works by distinguished choreographers such as, Alvin Ailey, Martha Graham, Jose Limon, Matthew Rushing, Kevin Wynn and Carolyn Dorfman.
Carolina’s performance credits include, Tokyo Disney Resort, 80's LIVE! at the Hard Rock , Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Ballet Hispanico II, Maluma, Sekou McMiller Dance Company, FOX & MY9, among others. Carolina also loves to teach and strongly believes in the importance of arts in education. She is currently a teaching artist for Alvin Ailey Arts in Education and Community Programs and for I’RASE Girls & Boys Intl. where she teaches dance in predominantly underserved at risk communities.
